Onondaga enters playoffs with 5 bronze medalists from 2014 World Games
Onondaga Nation- August 1, 2014 The Can-Am championship has come down to two familiar foes, Onondaga and Newtown. For many these years, these two teams have come together to play some intense games for the championship. Rivalries between these two teams stems from stories from grandfathers of when the Senecas and Onondagas get together.
“I loved playing in this game, and I loved watching my father and uncles play in this great rivalry,” said Coach Ed Shenandoah. “Games like this bring out the best in all of us. You want to play so hard.”
This season the Redhawks and the Golden Eagles played twice, with each team winning on their home floor; the Redhawks winning 13-11 and falling on the road to Newtown 13-17.
“I think that we will be ready for Newtown,” added Coach Shenandoah. “We have a great core of guys that is very talented and can play with anyone.”
