Kahnawake hosted a tournament celebrating one of their lacrosse legends, goaltender Robert “Sakaronia” Scott. Robert “Sakaronia” Scott will be inducted this year into the Canadian Hall of Fame. The tournament was visited by teams from Akwesausne, and Sherbrook to fill out the field. The Intermediates lost their opening round game to Akwesasne. They then bounced back with a win against the host, Kahnawake in a very excitng contest. The Intermediates were then upset by the Sherbrook team in the last game of the round robin which forced both teams to battle for the bronze. Onondaga then defeated Sherbrook to earn the bronze medal.
The Oldstix had to play two host teams on the first day of competition. The first game was won by the hosts 5-7 and then Ononadagas lost the nightcap 7-12 despite 2 goal 1 assist efforts by Jake Lazore and Brad Powless. That left the Onondaga and Akwesausne to play two games on Sunday. The first was to see who would be the “home” team in the battle for the bronze. Akwesausne won the first game convincingly but it was the Onondagas coming back in the next game to take the bronze medal back to Onondaga.
Onondaga would like to thank Kahnawake for being a gracious host of the tournament.
