The Tonawanda box at Logan Field is the host site for the 2010 NAMLA Championships.
The cummulation of the 2010 season will see 14 teams compete for 7 Championship banners beginning at 10am. While teams from Onondaga, Tuscarora, Newtown, and Allegany will excitedly make the trip to Tonawanda, lets quickly recall the events which led to the birth of NAMLA.
Prior to 2003, the minor lacrosse teams located south of the Canadian border would routinly travel into Canada to play in tournaments and Candian Provincial Championships (and even winning a few). But in the spring of 2004, Onondaga (as well as other native teams) wern’t allowed to play in Canada.
With the hard work of many individuals throughout many Haudenosaunee communities, the North American Minor Lacrosse Association was born. That spring teams, coaches and referees were ready for a full season of lacrosse for all of our children. Then in the summer of 2004, Allegany hosted the first NAMLA Championship! Now going to play for the NAMLA Chamionship is routine. Nyawenha agwaigih!
