The Redhawks returned to their home floor and defeated the visiting Niagara Hawks 8-5. The Redhawks started the scoring with a goal by AJ Bucktooth. The Hawks responded 2 minutes later to tie. Goaltenders Jeff Powless for the Redhawks and Finley Wilson for the Hawks then shut down all scoring attempts to end the first period tied at 1.
The Redhawk faithful were a bit worried as the second period developed. The visitors were able to punch in three straight goals over 18 minutes of action to take a 4-1 lead in the second period. Then the Redhawk finally beat Wilson to tally their second goal with 90 seconds to play. Feeling the momentum, they won the ensuing face-off and Murray Stout scored 8 seconds later to cut the score to 4-3. Niagara tried to close out the second with a goal by pulling their goaltender, but Murray Stout delivered a devastating hit which caused a loose ball which goaltender Jeff Powless scooped up and fired the length of the floor, missing the net by inches as time expired.
The Onondaga Redhawks had momentum on their side entering the third period and the constant barrages of shots (32 to 8) on the visitors were taking their toll. Gewas Schindler scored to tie the game then Neal Powless scored to give the Redhawks a lead at 5-4. Jeff Powless was able to hold their shooters at bay as the Redhawks added three more tallies by Pete Benedict, Ron Cogan, and Ryan Lewis before the Hawks were able to score before time expired to end the game.
