With the Squamish Nation’s big drums pounding and the Onondaga Nation all a ‘Twitter’, the Redhawks didn’t let down its fans in a 14-7 win over two time defending champion the Owen Sound Woodsmen.
The 2010 season saw the Redhawks loose a game in May before finishing the rest of the season undefeated. The Can-Am playoffs saw the team begin to peak as they swept through all of their playoff series. In the President’s Cup, the team was ready for the higher level of play by attacking all loose balls, intense defense, constant motion offense, great goaltending, and a team dedication towards the no-tolerance policy that paid dividends earning them the number one seed for the gold medal game.

With the man advantage resulting from the end of the second period, the Redhawks were able to build their lead to 12-4 with 3 unanswered goals to begin the third period. With the drums from the people from the Squamish Nation, the Redhawks began to try to extend their possessions as they closed in on their first President’s Cup. The Woodsmen were able to tally 3 goals of their own as they pulled their goalie for an extra attacker before the Redhawks closed out the championship game with two goals of their own.
Redhawk Jeremy Thompson was awarded Player of the Game as well as Tournament MVP. Onondaga defensemen Junior Bucktooth joined Jeremy as a 1st Team All Star while goaltender Ross Bucktooth and forward Andy Spack were selected as 2nd Team All-Stars.
Congratulations to all of the Redhawks for bringing home the President’s Cup! The people of the Onondaga Nation are so proud of our team.
