When your opponent only brings 12 runners onto the floor, goal scorers get ready. That’s what happened Friday night as the Rochester RiverMonsters entered Tsha Hoñnoñyeñdakwha with 12 players and 2 keepers.
Although the Redhawks were ready to be off and running the RiverMonsters more than held their own as the first period ended in a 2-all tie.
Cree Cathers opened up the second period scoring and the beginning of his impressive 8 point outing with a goal and an assist from Cam Simpson moments into the period. That was quickly followed by a tally by Adam Yee and the Redhawks were off and running. The Redhawks scored 8 more goals to finish the period bringing the score to 12-6.
Brian Phillips Jr opened up third period scoring just seconds into the start of the period The visiting RiverMonsters responded with 2 goals of their own to make the score 13-8. That was as close as the visitors would get as teh hometown Redhawks rattled off the next 8 goals.
The Redhawks were led by Cree Cathers (3-5), Adam Yee (7-2), Brian Phillips Jr (2-5), Troy Benedict (3-2) and Chris Laurita (0-5).
