Onondaga opened up the best of 5 series against the Allegany Arrows with a 13-6 win.
The first period saw both goal tenders play their best. Ross Bucktooth was solid throughout keeping the arrows to one tally for the entire period while the home team scored three.
The second period saw the Redhawk offence come to life. One the first possession of the second period, lefty Wade Bucktooth scored from the outside. The very next possession, righty Lee Nanticoke came through the middle to beat the goalie high on the nearside pipe. Not to be outdone, captain Brett Bucktooth found his grove scoring 3 Redhawk goals in a row! After an Arrow goal, the scoreboard read an 8-2 Redhawk lead. After another Arrow goal, veteran lefty forward Neal Powless cut the middle to score to extend the lead to 9-3. Cam Simpson finished the second period with a pretty quick stick goal, 10-3 Onondaga.
The final period saw both teams head to the penalty box. The home team tallied the first goal extending the lead to eight before Allegany was able to score a goal with two Redhawks watching from the penalty box. Onondaga’s Cam Simpson score the Redhawks 13th goal with 8 minutes left in the game as the Redhawk offence let the defense and goal tender Ross Bucktooth seal the win for the Redhawks.
