The Redhawks traveled out to the Gil Lay Arena to fall to Newtown 10-8.
The Redhawks began the game on a high note with Ed Shenandoah and Pete Benedict scoring in the first two goals and Jeff Powless holding the Golden Eagles scoreless for a 2-0 first period lead.
But the second period went the hometown Golden Eagles’ way as they were able to 7 times including a goal with only 40 seconds to play. The Redhawks were able to respond to the Newtown rally with 3 goals. Newtown then held a 7-5 lead going into the third period.
Newtown extended their lead just 82 seconds into the third period. The Golden Eagles then added two more goals before the 10 minute mark making their lead 10-5. The visiting Redhawks continued to work an added 3 straight goals to close out the scoring for the game to bring the final score to 10-8.
