The Onondaga Redhawks are are to a successful start to the 2018 season.
The Redhawks started the season with a 17-7 road win over defending 2017 Can-Am Champion Native Sons. It only took 2 minutes before Redhawk Dan Rodgers scored the first tally of the season off of an assist from Lee Nanticoke for the first points of the year. Led by Chris Laurita’s 5 goal 1 assist performance, the Redhawks never trailed in this contest.
Other notables are Brian Bucktooth and Dan Rogers both recording 3 goals and an assist and Lee Nanticoke recording 2 goals and 2 assists.
Game 2 of the season saw the Redhawks host their first game of the season versus Buffalo Creek. The visitors from Buffalo suffered a 17-0 loss. Tyler Hill scored just 50 seconds into the game off of an assist from AJ Bucktooth to get the scoring underway. At the end of the first period the Redhawks had build an 8-0 lead and were well on their way in securing their first home win.
Leading the way for the Redhawks versus Buffalo Creek was Lee Nanticoke’s 2 goals and 6 assists, Korey Halftowns’ 2 goals and 4 assists, James Cathers 4 goals and AJ Bucktooth’s 2 goal and 2 assist performance.
Game 3 saw the Redhawks travel to Allegany and saw the end of their early season winning streak come to an end.
The Arrows scored first and often. The home town arrows built a 6-1 lead with Redhawk Lee Nanticoke scoring the only goal for the visitors. The second period saw the Allegany Arrows score 9 to the Redhawks 4 ending the second period with the score 15-5. The final saw the Redhawks only score 1 more while the Arrow added 8 of their own for a 23-6 final.
Next up for the Redhawks is a trip to Rochester on Friday, May 11th for a 8pm face-off.
