The opening three games of the season has left the Redhawks sitting alone on top of the Eastern division of the Can Am League. By scoring 56 goals and allowing only nine, the Redhawks have their offence and defense in high gear.
This past weekend, The Redhawks defeated Pinewoods by the score of 17 to 4 and followed that up with a win against Tonawanda by the score of 22 to 3. In both contests, the Redhawks scored early and the defense held the opponents scoreless while the offense built comfortable leads.
Saturday’s Pinewood’s game was anchored by “Huck” Hill in nets while Jeff Powless kept the Tonawanda attackers at bay throughout the afternoon. The Pinewoods game saw Neal Powless net 3 goals and 3 assists, Ed Shenandoah and Dustin Hill both scored 2 goals and 4 assists, Murray Stout tossed in 3 goals and 2 assists and Pete Benedict and Gewas Schindler tallied 2 goals and 3 assists to lead the scoring. Sunday’s action saw Gewas Schindler tally 10 points with a 3 goal 7 assist effort, followed by Dave Stout’s 3 goals 5 assists, AJ Bucktooth’s 2 goals 5 assists and Pete Benedict’s 4 goals and 2 assists to lead the Redhawk scorers.
